Review before buying
Bring out the covers, throws and curtains you already own and check their condition. A forgotten combination may work better than you remember. Remove damaged pieces from use if they cannot be repaired, and decide which ones still deserve storage space.
Group by function rather than season alone. A light throw may be useful all year in a cool corner, while a cushion cover does not need replacing if you still enjoy it. There is no obligation to refresh every surface when the calendar changes.
Make a small transition
You could replace a heavy blanket with a lighter one or swap two covers for colours you currently enjoy. Keep something consistent so the room retains continuity. Changing everything together makes it harder to identify what actually improves the arrangement.
Seasonal light also changes how colours appear. Test fabrics in their positions before storing or rejecting them. A cover that seemed dull in winter may look different when more light enters, even though the material itself has not changed.
Store clean and completely dry
Follow care labels before washing. Do not pack a damp item with the intention of letting it finish drying inside a bag. Check that the storage location is dry and suitable for the material, and avoid compressing delicate fillings without reading their instructions.
Keep matching pieces together and add a simple label identifying size or destination. A bag labelled only summer may need opening before you discover whether it contains bedding or sofa covers. A specific description saves unnecessary handling.
Think about the next change
Keep anything you might need early accessible. Weather does not always follow a neat sequence, and a useful blanket should not be buried behind several boxes. Consider the space occupied by the whole collection, not just the latest purchase.
If every seasonal change requires moving half the house, reduce the number of pieces. A small selection that is easy to wash, dry and store often gives you more freedom to enjoy the refresh.
